JSC  "Ventspils nafta" daughter company SIA "Ventspils nafta termināls"

has obtained certificates on conformity with the requirements of latest

ISO   (International  Standards  Organization)  version  9001:2000  and

1400:1996.  The  conformity  of  "Ventspils  nafta  termināls" with the

mentioned standards was inspected by the International Auditing Company

BUREAU VERITAS QUALITY INTERNATIONAL.



Activities  of  "Ventspils  nafta  termināls"  in  accordance  with ISO

requirements  were confirmed by a certificate already in 2000, however,

upon  expiry  of its validity after three years, the Company has agreed

to  undergo  again the process of certification that has confirmed once

more  that "Ventspils nafta termināls" has been in full conformity with

high ISO standards.



ISO-14001  and  ISO-9001  are based completely on free will principles,

however,  successful  introduction  and  application of these standards

depends  directly  on  the contribution of employees at all levels. The

main  concern  of International Quality Management Standard ISO-9001 is

the organization of work at a company and contains a number of specific

rules the observance of which guarantees the conformity of the services

provided by the company with a certain quality.



In  turn,  the  target of International Environment Management Standard

ISO-14001  is  to establish an effective environment management system,

providing  a  systematic and planned solution to environmental matters,

confirming company's understanding of environmental problems, including

company's   determination  to  solve  them,  as  well  as  showing  the

conformity with high environmental standards.



Decisions  to  be  ISO  certified  were  made  by the management of JSC

"Ventspils  nafta"  JSC  already  in  1998  by  having  agreed upon the

combined procedure for introducing the international quality management

and  environment  management  standards. The joint introduction of both

standards  allowed  making  the  best  use  of finances and time of the

company  as  required  by  certification. In addition, two targets were

reached  concurrently proving that Oil Terminal owned by JSC "Ventspils

nafta"    has    been    able    to   provide   safe,   effective   and

environmental-friendly services in the field of transit business.
