JSC  "Latvijas  Gaze"  informs  in  first 6 month of 1999 572,9 million

cubic  metres of natural gas and 12 952 tons of liquid gas were sold to

consumers.  Compare  to  previous  year  sales  in the same period have

decreased  by 29,4 million cubic metres (4,9 %) but sales of liquid gas

by 1655 tons (11,3 %).

Decrease  of  sales amounts of natural gas are connected with early end

of  heating  season.  As  a  result industrial clients of JSC "Latvijas

Gaze"  have asked to carry over unused amount of gas for the first half

of  year to fall. Therefore JSC "Latvijas Gaze" forecasts that in total

sales  this year will be as planned before - 1,25 billion cubic metres.

Decrease of sales of liquid gas are explained by growing competition in

this field.
