JSC  "Jekabpils  cukurfabrika" informs that on the February 7 sugarbeet

processing  season  was  concluded. In total 145 403 tons of sugarbeets

were  processed,  and more than 14 500 tons of sugar produced. Although

planned   processing  results  were  not  reached,  record  amounts  of

sugarbeets   were   processed.   Main  reasons  for  that  insufficient

processing  capacity  and  incapability  to  master  new  technological

systems.  At  present  purification  of  the  plant  and  interseasonal

operations  model  is  being  implemented.  Distribution of produce and

settlement   of   accounts   with  suppliers  and  credit  institutions

continues.  On  the February 1, sugar factory had settled accounts with

more than 70 % of sugarbeet growers.

Together with other sugar factories work on co-ordination and preparing

of new contracts, for the season of 1999, is being carried out.
