The  profit  of JSC "Latvijas balzams" was LVL 2.1 million for the nine

months of

1998, which is an increase compared to the

1.9  m  LVL  profit made in the first nine months of 1997; the turnover

was LVL

19.3  million,  which  is 14% down to respective period in the previous

year.  If  the  current  trend  of  profitability is retained, Latvijas

balzams  can  close the year 1998 with financial results equal to those

of 1997, when the company had a profit of LVL

2.3  million.  To  increase  the  turnover,  the company has started to

implement  a more active sales policy by expanding the cooperation with

merchants.
