East capital names SAF Tehnika the Best Eastern Europe IPO
Riga, November 11 – The leading Baltic telecoms equipment developer and
producer JSC SAF Tehnika announced as one of the East Capital Awards winner
for the best IPO in the region. The winners of annual prize program that
premiered in 2004 and recognises excellence among Eastern European companies
in the categories Best Growth, Best IPO and East Capital Discovery of the Year
were unveiled during the prize ceremony and a gala dinner held in Stockholm on
November 9.
East Capital is a leading independent asset manager specialising in Eastern
European financial markets, with around 600 MEUR in assets under management,
both in public and private equity.
SAF Tehnika was established in 1999 and in May 2004 performed an IPO on the
Riga Stock Exchange. The IPO was a truly landmark event as it was the first
private sector IPO in the Baltic States since the late 1990s. The share has
been one of the best performing and most liquid on the exchange. SAF Tehnika’s
IPO is also a benchmark in terms of shareholder quality due to the diversity and
geographical diversification of the company’s ownership.
Acknowledgments were also made of OMX (operator of and strategic shareholder in
the Riga Stock Exchange), as the promoter and supporter behind SAF Tehnika’s
successful IPO as well as Suprema (a pan-Baltic investment bank), the IPO arranger
and lead manager.
Latvian microwave radio producer SAF Tehnika is continuing to expand global market
presence proven by company`s financial results (SAF Tehnika`s financial year ended
with 12,8 m LVL sales and 3,9 m LVL net profit).
