SAF Tehnika Supports the Latvian Motor Team in the Rally Raid Barcelona-

Dakar 2005



Riga, 1 December – the leading Baltic telecommunication equipment developer 

and producer a/s SAF Tehnika will support the Latvian motor team participating 

in the prestigious rally Barcelona-Dakar 2005 from 31st of December, 2004 to

 16th of January, 2005. 



On 31 December, 2004 the legendary Dakar rally having attracted a great number 

of participants and spectators from its very beginning, will start from the 

Spanish city Barcelona for the 27th time already. For the second year now, a 

Latvian team named “SAF Motor Team Riga” will take part in this exciting race. 

It will be led by the Latvian endurance and the Baltic cross-country champion 

Jānis Vinters, who has already surprised the world with impressive results in 

the rally Paris-Dakar 2004 and proved that he is able to compete with the 

world’s most famous motorcyclists. Compared to the Rally Paris-Dakar 2004, 

the participants will have to cover distance which is 2000 km shorter – 8956 

km in total length. The longest stage will be 919 km from Barcelona to Grenada, 

the shortest – 18 km through Barcelona. Teams will start on 31st December in 

Barcelona and then proceed by crossing the desert through the African countries

Morocco, Mauritania, Mali and, finally, by finishing in Dakar, the capital of

Senegal, on 16th January. 



SAF Tehnika is proud of the opportunity to lend its support to the national team

in this prestigious sporting event watched closely by millions of spectators 

all over the world.



The official sponsorship contract will be signed on 1st December, 2004 at 15 pm 

on the 2nd floor of the shopping center “Olimpija”. 



According to the agreement, SAF name and logo have been integrated in the name

of the team and have been worked into a specially designed team logo which will

be placed on the uniforms and motorcycles of drivers, and the technical support

car of the team.
