Saku Brewery Ltd launches Saku Originaal in new innovative packaging



Saku Brewery is the first Estonian beer producer to implement the AM bottle:

innovative unbreakable top quality packaging for beer. The bottle which will be

used to package the company's core brand and best known Estonian premium beer

Saku Originaal  is expected to trigger a change in the whole Estonian beer market

by increasing the share of premium beers at the expense of products in ordinary

plastic packaging whose importance has grown drastically in the past few years.



In 2005 Saku Brewery expects the AM bottle to increase the share of Saku

Originaal in the mainstream segment from 25% to 29%. Annual sales of innovatively

packaged Saku Originaal should amount to 2 million litres. Together with the

already launched bottled, canned and draught products the addition should

consolidate Saku Originaal's continually leading position 

in Estonian beer market.



The new packaging has been developed in cooperation with other Baltic breweries

of the Baltic Beverages Holding group. Altogether, the breweries of the three

Baltic countries have invested in the development of packaging related production

processes and technologies around EUR 1 million.



Saku Brewery is the first domestic beer producer to launch a new generation

bottle. Quality tests of the new bottle began around a year ago. To date,

thorough research has been carried out and extensive tests performed with a view

to ensuring the best possible quality for the new packaging.
