Increase in Cargo Volumes Handled by Ventspils Nafta Termināls



In February 2005 the volume of cargo handled by the daughter 

company of the joint stock company Ventspils Nafta viz. 

Ventspils Nafta Termināls increased when compared with 

the analogous period of 2004. This February there is also 

an increase in cargo turnover when compared with January 2005.



This February 0.85 million tonnes of petroleum products were 

handled by Ventspils Nafta Termināls. Of the volume handled 

still all time high is motor gasoline of various grades 

which throughput in February like a month before reached 

0.4 million tonnes. Gasoline volumes handled by Ventspils Nafta 

Termināls will increase thanks to an active operation of the 

Terminal in tying-in more cargo by offering some new and 

profitable services to the customers as loading of gasoline 

into tanker ships of up to 100.000 tdw. This kind of service 

is not being offered by any other terminal that could 

compete with Ventspils Nafta Termināls.



The handling volume of gas oil also increased substantially 

this February and reached 0.45 million tonnes.



Accordingly to previous forecasts the economic situation in 

Russia still could be considered as beneficial for crude oil 

exporters as it is more profitable for them to send crude oil 

to local refineries than export it by railway; and as a result 

crude oil transportation by railway from Russia to all 

directions has decreased over the last few months.
