PENNU COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
ANNOUNCEMENT
17.11.98
COMMENTARY TO THE BNS NEWS OF 16.11.98:
"ESTONIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY THREW PENNU OUT BECAUSE
OF TAMPERING"
In April of the current year, PCTG sent a shipment of computer sets to
Ukraine. Our business partner there asked us to confirm that the computers
supplied are produced in Estonia by PCTG. What followed was caused by the
incompetence and inexperience of some of the PCTG employees.
Considering the above-mentioned document unimportant (since the goods were
not shipped to Ukraine with the EUR1 custom declarations, and our partner did
not seek tax allowances), the above-mentioned employees thought that PCTG
as a member of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCI) can confirm
the origin of the goods produced and shipped by themselves. The text was drafted
on the unnumbered original form of the ECCI (which are officially sold by ECCI
without limiting the conditions and directions for using them), and signed and
stamped by an employee of PCTG. Therefore, there was no tampering of the form
or certificate of origing, as it was claimed in the BNS article.
Without justifying its incorrect deed, PCTG confirms that it had no intention
to harm the reputation of ECCI or Estonian economy, or to dispatch
false information. PCTG's explanations and apologies are also presented
to the The Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As of today, PCTG has
not received a formal notification of exclusion from the ECCI.
