In January 2002 JSC "Liepājas metalurgs" has operated successfully. The

open hearth production unit has exceeded the planned output by 0.9% and

has  manufactured  380  tons  of steel, while the rolled metal unit has

produced  over  2500  tons  of  reinforcement  bars. Also the output of

castings has exceeded the expectations.

In  2002 JSC "Liepājas metalurgs" is planning an output of 498,000 tons

of steel and over 583,000 tons of reinforcement bars.



At  the end of January the Company received a certificate original from

EMPA, Switzerland, certifying the compliance of reinforcement bars with

the  Swiss  standards.  A  group  of auditors from the Netherlands paid

their  final  visit  to  the  Company prior to issuing a certificate of

compliance.  Also the certification process in Spain is approaching the

final stage.
