JSC  "Balta"  according  to provisional data, in the 1998 has LVL 15,04

million written in gross premiums; this is 13% increase compared to the

previous year.

Of  this  LVL  7,82  million were voluntary insurance premiums, and LVL

6,99  million  were  received  as mandatory third party motor liability

insurance  premiums.  Total insurance compensations paid out during the

1998  are LVL 4,58 million, compare to the 1997 amount of compensations

has increased more than twice.
