Sanitas AB forecasts growth



After signing the agreement to purchase the Slovak pharmaceutical 

company „Hoechst- Biotika“, Sanitas AB has revised its forecasts for 

sales and profit until 2009. Sanitas AB estimates that the acquisition 

of “Hoechst – Biotika” will positively affect its financial results. In 2006 

Sanitas AB projects that its consolidated sales will reach LTL 81 million and 

its net profit will reach LTL 6.4 million. Concurrently, forecasted EBITDA is 

approximated to be LTL 19 million. In 2007 the company expects to increase 

sales to LTL 85 million and net profit LTL 3.0 million. A decrease in the net profit 

in 2007 can be attributed to couple of important factors. At the end of 2006 and 

the beginning of 2007 Sanitas AB will start a new plant (partly financed with EU 

structural funds) and contract manufacturing for “Sanofi – Aventis” 

(in “Hoechst – Biotika”). The above mentioned plant in Kaunas should be validated, 

obtain necessary certificates and will produce number of test batches of new products. 

Thus higher costs at the beginning and limited revenues are influencing forecasts 

of 2007 and 2008. Company already has agreements for contract manufacturing 

for “Sanofi – Aventis” in Slovakia site during the transition period. The expected 

revenues are included into forecasts of 2005 and 2006. A further collaboration 

between companies is not agreed now.
