RESOLUTIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF ESTONIAN TELECOM: CHANGE IN THE 

MANAGEMENT BOARD

 

On 27 August, the Council of Estonian Telecom passed a resolution 

to 

recall Tarmo Amer from the management board as of 1 September. At 

the 

same meeting the Council appointed Krister Björkqvist as a new 

member 

of the management board. He shall be responsible for the financial 

management of Estonian Telecom Group.

 

Considering the professional work of Tarmo Amer as a member of the 

management board and CFO of Estonian Telecom, the Council strongly 

supported the opinion that Tarmo Amer should continue his work in 

Estonian Telecom, especially in the field of investor relations.

 

Krister Björkqvist (43), the new member of the management board of 

Estonian Telecom worked in the Finnish telecommunications company 

Sonera since the beginning of this year. In 1990-1998, Mr. 

Björkqvist 

was a Vice President of the Huhtamäki Group, being responsible  for 

the financial development and business control. The Group controls 

one of the world’s largest food packaging companies - Polarcup and 

confectionery manufacturer Leaf.     

 

The Council of Estonian Telecom also discussed the aspects of the 

future strategy and financial management of the company and 

overviewed the financial results of the first six months of 1999.
