COMMENTARY TO FINANCIAL RESULTS
COMMENTARY TO THE BALANCE SHEET PUBLISHED BY CENTRAL BANK
As a commentary to the balance sheet of Hansabank published today by
the Central Bank of Estonia, we would like to say that as of December
31, 1999, Hansabank's total assets stood at EEK 25.81 billion. Bank's
loan portfolio totalled EEK 13.96 billion, while clients' deposits
amounted to EEK 15.38 billion. As of December 31 Hansabank's total
shareholders' equity was EEK 4.69 billion. Hansabank's financial
result for December, which was significantly affected by extraordinary
items (see press releases from Jan. 3 and Dec. 28), was an EEK 121.4
million profit. The distribution of revenues was the following: 60.5%
net interest income after provisions, 1.0% from trading income, 37.1%
service fees and commissions received, and 1.4% other income.
Unconsolidated data is insufficient for a full analysis of the share
value of Hansabank. Hansabank will publish its consolidated
preliminary results for 1999 on January 28.
This commentary also includes the unconsolidated balance sheet of
Hansabank as of December 31, 1999.
