Saku Õlletehas NEWS RELEASE 08/08/2002
CORRECTION REGARDING BEERMARKET
The information concerning the Estonian beer market as
published by the Olvi Group today in HEX does not include
any imported beer products sold on the Estonian market, and
therefore it does not actually cover the Estonian beer
market.
According to the information at the disposal of the Estonian
beer industry, the Estonian beer market is distributed as
follows: the leader of the beer market is the Saku Brewery
who, as accumulated over the first sixth months of this
year, accounts for 46% of the whole market. The Tartu
Brewery from the Olvi Group has a 38.9% market share in the
Estonian beer market and not 40.5% as published. Viru
Brewery accounts for 5%, Viru Nigula for 2% and imported
beer for 4.5% of the total beer market.
In July, the Saku Brewery increased its sales compared to
previous months, increasing its market share by one-half of
a market point, totalling 46.5%. The Tartu Brewery remained
at the same level compared with June, i.e. 38%. The Viru
Brewery dropped by one-half point to the level of 4%. The
Pärnu Brewery also remained at the same level, i.e. 3.5% as
did Viru-Nigula (2%). In July, imports accounted for 6% of
the total beer market in Estonia.
