Skandinaviska  Enskilda  Banken  (SEB)  have  acquired  5  714  553 JSC

"Latvijas  Unibanka" shares ( LVL 1,36 per share) from European Bank of

Reconstruction  and  Development (ERAB). Therefore SEB participation in

the bank has reached 44,3 %.

ERAB  acquired  JSC  "Latvijas  Unibanka" shares in the middle of 1996.

They  expressed determination to become middle term financial investor,

to  promote  involvement  of  strategic  partner  and  good  management

practise.  Presence  of  ERAB have been very important to JSC "Latvijas

Unibanka" and to the stabilisation of Latvian banking field in general.

As a positive aspect can be mentioned that in the future more attention

will be paid to the development of banking business.

By  definition  financial investors are mainly interested in profit and

increase   of  stock  price.  Strategic  investor  can  invest  in  the

development of company.

Therefore  involvement into SEB will promote improvement of technology,

development  of  new  products,  attraction  of long-term resources and

co-operation in clients service.
