SEVEN MILLION TONNES OF CRUDE AND PRODUCTS HANDLED BY VENTSPILS NAFTA TERMINĀLS 

FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR





Within the nine months of 2004 the Ventspils Nafta Termināls, Ltd. – a daughter 

company of the Ventspils Nafta, JSC – handled altogether seven million tonnes 

of crude oil and petroleum products, thus including three million tonnes of 

gas oil, two million tonnes of crude oil as well as two million tonnes of motor 

gasoline of various grades.



Nearly all the volumes of crude oil and petroleum products are delivered to the 

terminal by railway except a small volume of crude oil that is received by the 

terminal from the sea.



In September 2004 the Ventspils Nafta Termināls, Ltd. handled 0.6 million tonnes 

of crude oil and petroleum products, among them 0.3 million tonnes of gas oil, 

0.2 million tonnes of crude oil as well as 0.1 million tonnes of motor gasoline.



When compared with the previous months the September volumes of gasoline 

transhipped by the terminal decreased. This could be explained by the significant 

increase in petroleum product’s prices in Russia itself that has been connected 

with the coming of the colder autumn season and resulted in selling gasoline by 

its owners on the local market as it pays more than exporting it.
