NASDAQ OMX Riga Announces Competition of Bachelor's or Master's Theses 2013

18.03.2013 RIG

Riga, March 18, 2013 NASDAQ OMX Riga, for the 8th consecutive year, announces the competition for the best bachelor’s or master’s thesis addressing Latvian and/or Baltic securities market related questions.

The theses submitted for the competition will be evaluated in two rounds by a selected Competition Commission, comprising representatives from NASDAQ OMX Riga, teaching staff from higher educational establishments, and industry professionals. The winner of the competition will receive a money prize of EUR 1000 (after tax).

„Each year the competition papers manage to give us a fresh approach to the issues and daily routines of the stock exchange. And for this reason, as every year, we encourage students to submit their bachelor or master thesis related to the analysis of the Baltic or Latvian stock market or other exchange related issues to our competition. Moreover, enrolling the contest may be a good start for one’s career in this field,” says Liene Dubava, Chairman of the Competition Commission and Head of Issuer Services, NASDAQ OMX Baltic Market.

By October 1, 2013 the contestants are invited to submit their bachelor’s or master’s theses that have been presented in the last quarter of 2012 or in 2013 on the topics related to the Latvian and/or Baltic securities market. The theses may be written in the Latvian or English language, and should have a score from the competitor’s higher educational establishment no lower than 7 points; the papers may not have been entered for any previous competitions organized by a Baltic stock exchange in any of the Baltic offices.

To enter the competition, students have to deliver their bachelor’s or master’s theses to the Reception of NASDAQ OMX Riga at Vaļņu iela 1, Riga (2 hard copies in binding in decent computer printout plus a digital version on a CD or a memory stick), and supply details:
• Author’s name, surname
• E-mail address
• Telephone number
• Residential address
• Higher education establishment
• Tutor’s name, surname and contact information (e-mail and phone number).
