Riga Stock Exchange annual award winners to be announced

On Thursday, December 1, the Riga Stock Exchange will announce the winners of the annual awards: Broker of the Year, Contact Person of the Year and Stock Exchange Special Award. Traditionally, the awards go the best and pro-active market participants.

The main criteria for awarding with Broker of the Year is the evaluation by the clients and peers, the research done on the capital market, and trading statistics. The nominees are:
– Sandis Kapitonovs, “Latvijas Hipotēku un zemes banka”
– Jānis Ogsts, “Hansabanka”
– Aigars Rubiķis, “SEB Latvijas Unibanka”.

The criteria for awarding with Contact Person of the Year is the amount and quality of the information disclosed to the market, as well as the issuer’s transparency to the investors and improvements in disclosure practices during past year. The nominees are:
– Boriss Matvejevs, “Ditton pievadķēžu rūpnīca”
– Andris Vīgants, “Latvijas Jūras medicīnas centrs”
– Viktorija Žuka-Ņikuļina, “Olainfarm”.

Special Award is for outstanding contribution to the Latvian capital market development.

Last year the prize-winners were: Natālija Točelovska from “Parex banka” (Broker of the year 2004). Contact Person of the year 2004 was Gundega Vārpa from “Ventspils nafta”. Special Award 2004 went to Sten Sumberg from “Suprema”.

The prize is a statuette of a self-assured man and is a symbol of pursuit of achievement. The author is artist Uldis Zariņš.
