20.02.2006 RIG

On Friday Riga Stock Exchange conducted a meeting with educators from Latvian universities and colleges, who are lecturing on the topics of economics and finance. The educators received a copy of textbook on capital market “Vērtspapīru tirgus zinības” as a gift. This is already the second edition of the book, revised and updated.

Up to now the lecturers were making use of the first edition, published two years ago by the RSE and donated to the university and college libraries all over Latvia. “Vērtspapīru tirgus zinības” is the first textbook in the Latvian language on the basics of capital market. During the meeting the educators admitted the book to be very useful in their day-to-day work.

Making use of the opportunity of facing an audience of more than 20 educators from the leading universities and colleges in Latvia, Daiga Auziņa-Melalksne, Chairman of the Riga Stock Exchange Management Board, updated the university and college teachers on the latest developments in the Latvian and Baltic markets, underlining the increasing importance of company disclosure quality, and the role of capital market a source of capital raising. The educators were guided through the RSE web page www.lv.omxgroup.com, in order to demonstrate the availability of the extensive information and market data that might be handy both for the lectures and the students. The educators were reminded to encourage their students to participate in the contest of bachelor thesis on topical issues in the Latvian capital market, closing on July 1, 2006.
