Vilnius Stock Exchange turned 13

14.09.2006 VLN

Over thirteen years, the VSE has become more than just a local market. The VSE incorporated into OMX group, the largest securities market operator in North Europe and the Baltics, and became part of the common Baltic securities market, thus providing its market participants with wider opportunities and new markets.

“During the thirteenth year of our operation, we concentrated towards expanding our market offering to new customer groups. To facilitate investment decision and better overview of the investment funds on offer in the Baltics, the VSE together with other Baltic exchanges created Baltic Fund Center – one source of information about investment funds in the Baltics for investors. The Vilnius Stock Exchange also focused on the enhancement of transparency of the securities market. We approved the Code of Corporate Governance for the companies listed on the VSE, and that should encourage the listed companies to improve their governance and disclosure of information on their activities. Already by the end of this year, the Baltic exchanges will hold the Baltic Market Awards which will identify the best listed company from the Baltics for the best investor relations”, – said Dalia Jasulaityte, Chairman of the VSE Management Board. According to her, all this should enhance investors’ trust in the Lithuanian securities market.

During 2006, the VSE welcomed six new members as well as new companies. Vilkyskiu Pienine AB was listed on the Baltic I-List, and shares of Ukio Bankas AB and Panevezio Statybos Trestas AB were included in the Main List.

The VSE together with other Baltic exchanges are looking into introducing a new index family, offering new market data products as well as setting up a new segment for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Key VSE statistics for the last 13 years:
· 629.2 thousand of trades
· total turnover of LTL 20.32 bn (EUR 5.9 bn)
