TARIFF RE-BALANCING SCHEME HANDED TO THE GOVERNMENT
Resulting from the Concession Agreement and in accordance with the
re-balancing scheme presented in a process of IPO of the shares of
Estonian Telecom, Estonian Telephone Company Ltd today handed the
fixed call tariffs re-balancing scheme to the Government of
Estonia.
Following the principles of a draft of Telecommunications Law which
is in accordance with the EU directives, and also following the
Estonian Competition Law, Estonian Telephone Company intends to
reduce tariffs of international and national long distance calls
and subscription and monthly fees for business clients,
simultaneously lifting monthly fees for private individuals and
local call minute tariffs during the year 2000. Proposals presented
to the Government correspond to the re-balancing scheme presented
in the process of IPO, which foresaw introduction of cost-based
tariffs.
Concrete structure of tariffs is a subject for discussions with the
Ministry of Transport and Communications. In accordance with good
business practices and confidentiality requirement established in
article 6.2. of the Concession Agreement, Estonian Telecom doesn't
reveal tariff-proposals of Estonian Telephone Company.
