ACTIVE GROWTH OF ESTONIAN TELEPHONE COMPANY DATA SERVICE CLIENTS 

 

Sub-unit of IP-services was established by Estonian Telephone 

Company Ltd this week aimed on enhancing share of data 

communication services in total net sales of Estonian Telecom 

Group, and acquiring leading position on Estonian data 

communications market. 

 

Manager of the new sub-unit is Andres Käärik, member of the 

Management Board of Estonian Telephone Company. The unit focuses on 

developing new IP-based voice and data communication services.

 

During ten months of 1999, number of clients using dial-up services 

provided under ATLAS trademark has increased by more than four 

times. In the beginning of the year the number of Atlas dial-up 

clients was 5 500. By November 1 the number had increased to 23 

700.

 

There has been essential increase in number of Home-ISDN service 

clients, which is based on full-digital 2B+D connection and enables 

simultaneous telephone and data communications. The number has 

risen five times - from 200 in the beginning of the year to 1000. 

Total number of ISDN service clients has almost tripled compared to 

the beginning of 1999.
