CREATING PUBLIC KEY INFRASTRUCTURE

Estonian Telephone Company LTD, Estonian Mobile Telephone LTD
and Privador LTD, directed by the Law of Digital Signature
accepted by Riigikogu (Parliament), will start to jointly develop
public key infrastructure (TelePKI) for bringing e-commerce as
well as mobile services fast and safely to all the applicants.

ETC, EMT and Privador signed the minutes according to which the
innovative services allowing infrastructure will be developed and
applied. The forming of work groups necessary for the establishment
of infrastructure and their preliminary goals have been stipulated
in the minutes.

TelePKI is the infrastructure that will be established in the
cooperation of Estonian Telephone Company, EMT and Privador, and
which allows to order and use the services of Estonian Telephone
and EMT safely via Internet.

Infrastructure will be launched on the ground of ETC and EMT
customer basis. Privador LTD, owing the knowledge and experiences
in creating PKI systems, will participate in the project as
technical adviser and consultant.

In case of TelePKI, its compatibility with the present and future
projects, e.g. Estonian ID card is kept in mind and the same
standards will be used. When Estonian ID card is taken into use,
it will be very simple for TelePKI customers to use it. Thus,
TelePKI can be taken as an accelerator in moving into new society.
TelePKI enables to use the same safe services by means of mobile
telephone as well as the computer with chipcard reader.

TelePKI allows the better protection of the individual data of
ETC and EMT customers. Everyone , who wants to use the electronic
services will be provided with chipcard including the user’s
electronic identity (secret key) and it will be controlled by the
user only within the whole using period.
