SAMPO FINANCE SOLD ITS HOLDING IN OPTIVA PANK TO SAMPO



Yesterday Sampo Finance Ltd. sold 38,574,130 shares in Optiva Pank (93.5% of 

Optiva's share capital) to Sampo Insurance Company plc. The transaction has 

been approved by the Financial Supervision Authority and the Finnish 

Competition Authority. 



According to the decision of the General Meeting of Optiva Pank, the bank 

will be renamed Sampo Pank in the beginning of 2001.
