ACQUISITION OF EFM OPTIVA VARAHALDUS

Optiva Pank became the sole owner of asset management company EFM
Optiva Varahaldus after buying 50% of EFM’s shares from Austrian
asset management company East Fund Management. The agreement was
undersigned on 18.12.2000, and the ownership of shares was transferred
today, on 29.12.2000.

The company’s new name will be Sampo Varahaldus (Sampo Asset
Management). Currently Sampo Varahaldus offers possibilities to
invest in two different funds: EFM Optiva Rahaturufond (EFM Optiva
Money Market Fund) and EFM Optiva Kasvufond (EFM Optiva Growth Fund).
In the first half of the next year Sampo Pensionifond (Sampo Pension
Fund) and Sampo Võlakirjafond (Sampo Bond Fund) will be established.
In addition to its own funds Sampo Varahaldus will also begin to sell
publicly several Sampo-Leonia’s retail investor directed funds. The
assets of Sampo-Leonia’s 35 investment funds will be managed by Sampo
Leonia Asset Management, which today manages assets in total value
of EUR 8.5 billion.

Sampo-Leonia Group bought full holding in EFM Optiva Varahaldus with
an aim to participate in asset management business as highly
perspective and rapidly growing business area without other parties.
