HANSAPANK
ANNOUNCEMENT
COMMENT TO AN ARTICLE IN LIETUVOS RYTAS
As a commentary to the article in a Lithuanian daily, Lietuvos Rytas,
according to which Hansabank’s Lihtuanian subsidiary, Hansabankas has
violated the Anti Money Laundering Law, Hansabank would like to
say that, the software, which automatically generates reports for
the Tax Police, had mistakes, which were discovered by Hansabankas in
March. Because of the mistakes Hansabankas did not report on time
about performed operations. The bank immediately informed the Tax
Police about the mistakes.
After the bank employees carefully matched the reports to the Tax
Police with the actual operations, 700 delayed reports were found.
Hansabankas performs about 200,000 operations a month, out of which
some 5,000 must be reported to the Tax Police according to the Anti
Money Laundering Law of the Republic of Lithuania.
The above mentioned software mistake has been corrected and
Hansabankas continues to follow the requirements mentioned in the Anti
Money Laundering Law of the Republic of Lithuania.
Hansabankas followed and continues to follow the Laws of the Republic
of Lithuania, the Requirements of the Bank of Lithuania and other
legal acts from its establishment and continues to systemically and
professionally serve its clients.
Head of the Lithuanian State Property Fund, Mr Povilas Milashauskas
told Lietuvos Rytas that the above mentioned fact does not interfere
with the Lithuanian Savings Bank’s privatisation negotiations.
