ANNOUNCEMENT

SWEDBANK AND SEB TO DISCONTINUE THE MERGER

Hansabank Group’s strategic shareholder Swedbank (FöreningsSparbanken)
and SEB (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken) announced today that they have
called off the merger negotiations and will continue their operations
individually. According to the CEO of Hansabank Indrek Neivelt the
Group continued to follow its own strategy after the original merger
announcement in February of this year and the decision to discontinue
with the merger in Sweden will have no significant impact on the
operations of Hansabank Group. The Group will continue its everyday
business activities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
