Hansapank: Increase in Estonian commercial banks' retained earnings

18.12.2001, Hansapank, TLN
HANSAPANK
ANNOUNCEMENT

INCREASE IN ESTONIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS' RETAINED EARNINGS

As part of the legal restructuring of Hansa Capital Group, Hansa
Capital paid Hansabank dividends in November, resulting in a
significant increase in the item “Retained earnings” in the
consolidated balance sheet of the Estonian commercial banks published
by the Central Bank.
However, it is important to note that this dividend payment does not
affect Hansabank Group’s financial result for the year as in the Group
accounts the transaction is eliminated.
The bank uses the dividend received from Hansa Capital to increase the
capitalisation of its Latvian and Lithuanian daughter banks.
