TSE: DISCONTINUING OPTION MARKET STATISTICS

25.03.2002, Nasdaq Tallinn, TLN

Tallinna Börs NEWS RELEASE 03/25/2002

DISCONTINUING OPTION MARKET STATISTICS

As of March 2002 Tallinn Stock Exchange (TSE) discontinued publishing
monthly statistics on option market. The statistics contained the open
positions of options concluded by TSE member firms with TSE-traded
securities.

In order to compile sufficiently informative statistics on derivative
instruments for making investment decisions, the Exchange would have to
expand substantially the scope of published information and variety of
derivative instruments. Publishing information by single type of
instruments could become misleading in case of rapidly growing supply
of different derivative products.

The data and the means of control necessary for compiling the proper
statistics on derivative instruments and ensuring the correctness of
it are available only to the state supervisory authority. Due to the
above, TSE has made a proposal to the Financial Supervisory Authority
to consider the collection and disclosure of such information.
