Hansapank NEWS RELEASE 05/03/2004 16:15

CHANGES IN HANSABANK'S ESTONIAN MANAGEMENT

Andres Liinat, head of Hansabank’s retail banking division in Estonia
today submitted his letter of resignation. The new head of retail
banking operations will be Priit Põldoja, the current head of
investment management in Hansabank Group.

Erkki Raasuke, vice-chairman of the Board and head of Estonian
operations: "Retail banking in Estonian has undergone fundamental
changes during the past few years. The competitive situation is new,
as are the offers on the market and our clients’ expectations.
Hansabank has sometimes been too slow in reacting to these changes."

We want to change our current position and offer our clients solutions
that would result in mutual loyalty between the customer and the bank.
We have all the necessary resources to achieve this, said Raasuke.

Priit Põldoja has been working in Hansabank Group since 1998, when he
started as the CFO of Hansabank Markets. Since 2000 he has been
responsible for investment management operations of the Group in the
Baltic countries.
