This  year  JSC  "Rīgas  kuģu  būvētava"  is  going  to build the first

warship,  fulfilling  a  foreign contract. This will be a 30-meter long

vessel  for  coast  guard. The Government of Latvia has not yet decided

whether  it  intends  to  award  contracts for building warships to JSC

"Rīgas  kuģu  būvētava";  the  first  contract comes from abroad, to be

followed by other similar orders. JSC "Rīgas kuģu būvētava" already has

orders for building and repairing different types of vessels, including

fishing  boats, extending over a period ending in 2006. JSC "Rīgas kuģu

būvētava" is running short of capacities; it is planned to make certain

investments  to  expand the company. The investment amount is not known

as yet.
