 JSC "Latvijas Gāze" reports on performance in the first half of 2003

1. In the first half of 2003 JSC "Latvijas Gāze" sales (in physical
volumes) was:
Natural gas: 926.6 million m3;
LPG: 11.3 thousand tons
Compared with the respective period in 2002, the sales of natural gas
has increased by 22.5% or 170.4 million m3, or, is exceeds the target
figure by 22.2%. Sales of LPG have increased by 8.9% or 0.9 thousand
tons. The increase of sales is owing to the lower temperatures in 2003.
The industrial consumers "Latvenergo" and "Rīgas Siltums" have been the
main contributors to the increase of sales volumes.


2. Filling up of Inčukalns underground storage started in April;
978.7 million m3 have been pumped in during the first half of the year.
The target figure has been met by 100.4%.
3. Net sales in the first half of the year amount to LVL 59.8 million,
and the profit is LVL 5 million.
4. JSC "Latvijas Gāze" daughter company SIA "LPG" sales amount to LVL
3.37 million, yet, not reaching the profit target due to the high has
procurement price.

5. JSC "Latvijas Gāze" spent LVL 4,741.1 thousand to finance capital
investment programmes, breaking down as follows:
modernisation of technological equipments LVL 2,782.1 thousand;
construction of pipelines LVL 805.9 thousand;
reconstruction of buildings LVL 612.5 thousand;
investment in non-tangible assets LVL 53.5 thousand;
investment in other fixed assets LVL 487.1 thousand.Key activities in
the first half of 2003:
1. Company representatives participated in World Gas Conference in
Tokyo in June 2003.
2. Analysis of the company real estate and technical equipment
revaluation results, submitted by BDO "Invest Rīga", and clarification
of technical information.
3. Introduction of new tariffs starting with July 1, 2003.
4. Preparation of co-operation agreement with Rēzekne City Council with
regard to promoting gasification of the city, and drafting customer
agreements for the industrial clients at Rēzekne;
5. Amendments to the Collective Agreement pursuant to the environmental
risks indicated by independent experts.
