In the first quarter of 2003 profit of Unibanka was LVL 2.778 million,
which is 5,8% less comparing to respective period in 2002. Operating
result over the period reached LVL 10.027 million, which against the
same period in 2002 grown by 2,4%.
Andris Berzins, President of Latvijas Unibanka: "Our achievements are
in line with our budget. And again we are step ahead other banks - by
issuing the chipcards and setting up an infrastructure to use them,
Unibanka is the first who offers the most advanced technologies and the
safest solutions to the customers in Latvia. For the nearest future we
also have plans to finish several projects, which will lead us to the
position as technologically the best-developed bank. And, of course, we
are focusing the most on political situation around referendum,
possible joining EU and EMU and its consequences for business
development."
At the end of reporting period Bank's net loan portfolio reached LVL
532.736 million, which is 2.3% or LVL 11.388 million more comparing
with the end of previous year. Gross loan portfolio amounted to 543.243
million lats. During first three months amount of Bank's total deposits
increased by 32.429 million (+8.4%) and as at end of March were LVL
417.319 million.
Over the three months Unibanka assets have grown by LVL 10.902 million
and totalled LVL 716.880 million as at 31 March 2003. Bank's capital
and reserves were one of the highest in the market and amounting to LVL
72.584 million at the end of the period.
