In the first three months of this year 3.1 million tons of cargo were
reloaded at "Ventspils nafta" terminal from rail. This is an all-times
high volume of crude oil and oil products received and reloaded from
rail.
Out of the total volume of reloaded products, 1.9 million tons were
diesel oil, 0.7 tons were petrol of various brands, and 0.7 million
tons were crude oil - "Ventspils nafta" started reloading the latter
only late in 2002, and during the few months it has occupied a
permanent place in the service structure provided by "Ventspils nafta".
In average, "Ventspils nafta" reloads over 1 million tons of crude oil,
diesel oil and petrol per month. This volume assures stable operations
of the company. Also in March over 1 million tons of oil products were
reloaded, including 0.6 million tons of diesel oil, 0.2 million tons of
crude oil and 0.2 million tons of petrol.
The company management is concentrating on expanding the range of
services that do not depend on the dictate of the Russian pipeline
administration. The company is also planning to build a new railway
platform suitable for receiving diesel oil and crude oil.
