Riga Stock Exchange is planning to focus on attracting new issuers

Riga Stock Exchange has developed its strategic development plan for
2002, which has already been communicated to the RSE Supervisory Board
and shareholders. In line with the present Latvian capital market
development trends and the performance in 2001, the RSE is planning to
proceed with several initiated developments, focusing mainly on
attracting new issuers. Attracting and international partners remains
among the priorities, together with implementation of public education
and information campaign, the purpose of which is creating investment
culture in Latvia.

Guntars Kokorevičs, President, Riga Stock Exchange: "Capital market
participants are perfectly aware that it is not possible to establish
an efficient capital market in Latvia without investing in it.
Therefore the RSE and its shareholders are ready to invest time and
money to make the potential issuers and investors understand the
advantages of capital market. This would allow, within the 2 to 5
coming years, to bring attractive issuers and educated investors to the
market."

Year 2002 is critical to the RSE from the point of view of prospective
development, since the international integration activities will be
implemented, which are expected, in future, to allow attract also new
international members and investors, and new domestic issuers. At the
same time, the RSE believes it is important to retain its identity and
influence in the domestic market.
