In the first nine months of 2001 the company has reached the set
targets: all in all, the performance during the period deserves a
positive evaluation.
In open-hearth process, steel output has exceeded the target, retaining
the volumes of the respective period in the previous year.
Reinforcement bar output has increased by 7.2% over the respective
period in 2000; wire output - by
22.6%; nail output - by 30%.
During the first nine months of the year the company has made net
profit of LVL
24.5 thousand on net sales of LVL 52.7 million.
The situation in the world steel markets is still tense. The company is
doing its best to improve the product quality and to expand the range
of products.
In September the company received reinforcement bar import permits from
Swedish, Swiss and Portuguese regulatory bodies, enabling "Liepājas
metalurgs" to expand its sales in Europe (in 1999, product compliance
certificates were received from Germany, Italy and United Kingdom).
In 2001 the company exported reinforcement bars to Canada, United
Kingdom, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Africa and Latin America.
