JSC "Latvijas gaze" Supervisory Board has accepted application by Maris

Gailis  to  release  him  from  responsibilities  of  a Chairman of JSC

"Latvijas  gaze"  Supervisory  Board.  Maris  Gailis has submitted this

application  due  to  his  intentions to travel around globe. There are

several  candidates  to this position. The potential candidates are not

being  named and this information is confidential. Shareholders general

meeting  on  June  20, 2001 will elect new member to Supervisory Board.

Maris  Gailis  represented  8%  of  JSC "Latvijas gaze" shares owned by

Republic of Latvia.
