SIA "Latvijas propāna gāze" (LPG), a daughter company of Latvijas Gāze,
has released preliminary results for
2000, which suggest a loss of 440 thousand LVL. The sales volumes of
liquefied gas have reduced as compared to the previous year due to
emerging of new competitors in the market.
The liabilities taken over from company "Sašķidrinātā gāze" at the
moment of foundation of LPG account for a significant part of the
losses. LPG management expects a further decrease of sales volumes of
liquefied gas this year as well.
During the current heating season (26.10.2000 - 22.01.2001.) 1 billion
cubic metres of natural gas were pumped out of the Inčukalns
underground reservoir. Out of this, 504 million m3
were consumed in Latvia, 326 -
in Russia, and 170 in Estonia. The total storage capacity of the
reservoir is 4
billion m3, of which 2.1 billion is active gas.
