Growth of Gasoline Transhipped by the VN Termināls Continued in March





The growth of motor gasoline volumes transhipped by the Ventspils Nafta’s 

daughter company Ventspils Nafta Termināls continued in March 2005, 

including also substantial volumes of gas oil and – for the first 

time in this year – some crude oil. All of these cargoes above were 

delivered to the Ventspils Nafta Termināls mainly by railroad.



This March the Ventspils Nafta Termināls achieved yet another record 

for the transhipment of motor gasoline of various grades – their volume 

has already reached 0.46 million tonnes which is the all-time high level 

of gasoline transhipment ever handled by the terminal. The growth of 

gasoline volumes transhipped by the Ventspils Nafta Termināls is 

related with high demand for this product in Europe and the USA, 

as well as a successful policy for customers’ attachment by providing 

unlike any other competitive terminals gasoline loading into large 

vessels up to 100,000 tdw –– a very profitable service which brings 

comfort to the customers and provides substantial decrease in freight 

rate costs.



In March the Ventspils Nafta Termināls handled 0.35 million tonnes of 

gas oil as well as crude oil which has to be handled for the first time 

since the beginning of this year – in the amount of 0.11 million tonnes. 

According to some previous forecasts deliveries of crude oil to the 

terminal were not expected in January and February as they had been 

affected by the decrease in crude oil exported by railroad from 

Russia and other CIS countries during these months.



In total over the period from January to March 2005 the Ventspils 

Nafta Termināls has handled 2.5 million tonnes of crude oil and 

petroleum products, including 1.3 million tonnes of motor gasoline, 

one million tonne of gas oil and 0.1 million tonnes of crude oil.
