PRESS RELEASE



During the past two weeks Head of Naujoji Sajunga fraction in Seimas Gediminas

Jakavonis has been quoted frequently in media. At the beginning of December he

said that the General Manager of Lietuvos Telekomas Tapio Paarma who worked in

Latvia two years ago exceeded his authorization limits and was recalled from

his position by the shareholders after a scandal caused. Later this member of

Seimas announced, that " we can deny the fact “de jure” that he (T. Parma) was

fired by the shareholders”. So, Mr. G. Jakavonis himself admitted that his

statements pronounced at the beginning of December are wrong, but also added

that it is “impossible not to mention that Tapio Paarma worked in Lattelekom at

the time when agreements with investors were being made” and there were

lawsuits filed on the grounds continuing until now and which are “seen as

scandals”.



Once again I am publicly denying the accusations. When working in Latvia I did

not exceed my authorization and was never fired by the shareholders. Term of my

work agreement in Lattelekom was over in April of 1998 and right after that

under request of the General Manager of Lattelekom I started working as a

consultant until June, 1998. I never received any complaints regarding my work

neither from the shareholders, nor from the Board. I started working in

Lattelekom when agreements with investors were signed already. This is why the

statements relating my name to the notorious recall from the position, the so

called scandalous agreements and lawsuits, are wrong and misleading the

society, and they also made huge damage to my reputation.



When asked to deny the statements, Mr. G. Jakavonis did not do that and media

continues quoting his statements. I am not going to make any comments regarding

those false statements concerning me in future but I will use the opportunity

provided by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania to defend my rights and legal

interests.
