As of May 31, 2002, 37,055 people had joined the funded pension system. Persons who had joined the system by that date will start collecting funded pension as of July 1, 2002.
The number of people joining the system multiplied on the last days of May: on May 29, 3,657 people joined the funded pension system, 4,722 on May 30, and 7,890 on May 31, respectively.
“This is an excellent result in our opinion, exceeding our forecasts,” said Jaanus Erlemann, Supervisory Board chairman of Estonian CSD.

Persons who wish to start making contributions to funded pension as of January 1, 2003, have time to join until October 31, 2002. October 31, 2002 is also the last date when people born from 1942 to 1956 can join the funded pension system.
