Over 10,000 people have joined funded pension system

The number of people who had joined the funded pension system exceeded 10,000 by the evening of May 20th. 66% of them have chosen equity funds, 19% balanced funds, and 15% fixed income funds.

Funded pension choice applications can be submitted as of May 4. Persons who wish to start collecting funded pension as of July 1, 2002, have to submit a choice application before June 1, 2002. Persons who wish to start making contributions to funded pension as of January 1, 2003, have time to join until October 31, 2002. October 31, 2002 is also the last date when people born from 1942 to 1956 can join the funded pension system.

The choice applications may be submitted through Internet homepage www.pensionikeskus.ee, at account operators’ offices or via Internet banks.

Estonian CSD, part of HEX Tallinn, maintains Estonian central securities registry and pension registry.
