Estonian CSD (ECSD) decided to waive until December 2002 the maintenance fees for public limited companies that apply for registration in the Estonian central register of securities during Q2.

In case a company applies for registration before June 30 2002, it has to pay the processing fee of EEK 500, and only one month’s maintenance fee for the remaining months of this year.

With this offer the ECSD aims to support the timely registration of public limited companies in the central securities register. Public limited companies that are being incorporated and have not yet been registered in the Estonian Commercial Register, do not qualify for this offer.

“With this decision we expect to reduce the effects of a possible registration boom at the end of the year,” said Jaanus Erlemann, Chairman of ECSD’s Supervisory Board. “It means the companies who seek to optimise their expenses are now motivated to register their shares already today instead of on the last minute.”

According to the Estonian Central Register of Securities Act, the shares of all public limited companies operating in Estonia must be registered at the central securities register by 01.01.2003.
