RICI index increases by 27.42% over the past year

RSE index RICI in 2002 has increased by 27.42%, stopping at 207.14 points at the end of the year. On May 13, 2003, RICI index reached 229.42 points, the highest value in the last 3.5-year period.

RICI index describes the return on investment on the account of price increase: an investment in the index composition shares in the past year produced a yield which considerably exceeded interest on deposits in Latvian commercial banks (3%-6%).

Out of the index shares, Kaija demonstrated the highest price increase of 121.43%, followed by Liepājas Metalurgs and Rīgas Transporta flote with 91.67% and 40% increase respectively. Latvijas Gāze was the main loser from index shares, losing 18.26% in price.
